Service for Mr. James Bethel , 76, of Columbia, South Carolina will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 1:00 pm Ridgewood Baptist Church 5326 Ridgeway St. Columbia, South Carolina with burial to follow at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church Cemetery 216 Blue Ridge Terrace, Columbia, South Carolina. Viewing will be held on Friday, from 2:00 to 7:00 pm at the Pearson's Funeral Home 4508 N. Main St. Columbia, South Carolina. Mr. Bethel will lye in-state Saturday, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm . Born in Columbia, South Carolina the son of the late Daniel Bethel Sr. and Evelyn Clinton Bethel on January 9, 1950. He was a member of the Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church and served as a Trustee for the church. Retired from South Carolina Electric and Gas Company. He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Mary F. Bethel of the home and one son, James Daniel ( Jessica) Bethel of Bakers, Florida; two daughters, Juanita Washington of Blythewood, SC; Stephanie (Bruce) McGraw of Columbia, SC; and eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, two sisters Sarah Ann Roberts of Columbia, SC; and Betty Jean (Wilbert) Sickler of Columbia, SC; one brother, Johnny Bethel of Columbia, SC. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.
